Rodents In Your Garage? What May Be Leading Them In

Posted on

Rodents can get into very tiny areas. As long as they can get their head through, they can get their bodies through any hole, crack, or crevice. They can be found in your home or in other structures around your home as well, such as in sheds or garages. If you have found them in your garage, but you don't keep food in this area, it doesn't mean they aren't still finding something to eat. There is something there that is luring them inside. Read on for what it may be that is luring rodents into your garage.

Other Rodents

Other rodents may be leading rodents into your garage. Other rodents such as moles, squirrels, or chipmunks may be leading rodents such as mice into your garage. Chipmunks are also foraging for food, and they will chew their way into anywhere to get inside. Once they are in and have made a hole, other rodents will feel welcomed in as well. When you have rodents in your garage, you may end up with other pests as well. You could end up with roaches and ants as well, especially if they are leaving traces of food behind for these other pests to feed off of.

Birdseed Or Fertilizer

Birdseed and fertilizer and even grass seed can all be alluring to a rodent. They don't care that it isn't even all that tasty, if it's edible for them, they will get in to eat it. If you've spotted small piles or a trail of seed in your garage, there's a good chance that you have rodents in your garage. Remove the birdseed, fertilizer, and grass seed from your garage, or move it to a container that is air-tight to keep these pests out of it.

Water Source

If you have a water source in your garage and it's leaking, such as a dripping hose or a leaky faucet of some sort, the rodents may be attracted to this and could be the reason why they are coming into your garage. If you have a leak from your water source in your garage, you need to repair it, don't allow it to leak, and continue to give water to these rodents.

If you have rodents in your garage, they are being lured there for some reason.
